Rossa PDO* Umbria “Colli Assisi-Spoleto” Extra Virgin Olive Oil it’s a blend of different variety of olives, especially moraiolo (no less than 60%), frantoio, leccino and others, that grow on the rocky terrains between the medieval towns of Assisi and Spoleto villages of Assisi and Spoleto, in Umbria.

The Umbrian “Olive groves”, stretching through the six towns of Assisi, Spello, Foligno, Trevi, Campello sul Clitunno and Spoleto, have been recognized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations as new site of the prestigious Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS). It is the first Italian site recognized by GIAHS.

* D.O.P. or P.D.O. in English stands for Protected Designation of Origin, the European Union term used to describe foodstuff which are produced, processed and prepared in a given geographical area using recognised local know how. All products which have been quality certified by the European Union will bear the E.U. D.O.P. Logo and is hence a guarantee not only of a very specific geographic provenance of the olives but also a sign of extraordinarily high quality.
